From today (4 April), vegan fried chick*n brand VFC launches two SKUs across 116 Sainsbury’s stores. The Original Recipe Vegan Fried Chick*n Fillets and Vegan Fried Popcorn Chick*n can both be found in the freezer aisle. Each product is made from wheat protein in a southern fried and crispy corn flake coating.
Two Chick*n Fillets (pack weight 220g) retail at £3.00
Popcorn Chick*n (pack weight 250g) retail at £3.00

It’s been a rapid rise for the activist brand that only started trading 15 months ago, and achieved a listing for three SKUs (Fillets, Popcorn Chick*n, and Bites) in 370 Tesco stores within its first year.
Says Head of Marketing, Alison Reilly: “We’re delighted to have found a place on Sainsbury’s shelves, and to now be available to consumers right across the country. This is great news for everyone who wishes to reduce their impact on the planet and prevent animals from suffering while still enjoying the foods they love. VFC is proof positive that doing good can also taste really good.”
VFC’s co-founder and chef Adam Lyons has developed and shared some exciting recipes showcasing the versatility of VFC’s products. They include Trash Can Nachos, Satay Chick*n Skewers, Katsu Curry, and Po Boy with Spicy Slaw

Continues Reilly: “Adam’s recipes show that, whether you want a quick-and-easy midweek meal or have time to get more creative, VFC is a fantastic option. The products are easy to cook, taste amazing, and are now accessible to even more people, being available in around 500 Sainsbury’s and Tesco stores across the country.”
Alongside growth in the UK, VFC company expansion also continues internationally. Having won Best New Vegan Product at Natural Products Expo West in Los Angeles last month, the brand’s newly appointed US team is now focusing on retail and foodservice across the country as it further scales up production to meet demand.
