In October 2022, a new video documenting the 12th National Animal Rights Day (NARD) event which took place in June 2022 was released by Our Planet Theirs Too, the animal rights group founded by Aylam Orian.
Every year, NARD is held on the first Sunday of June to honour all the animals who have been killed in the food industry, as well as other industries, like fashion, the wild animal trade, scientific research, entertainment, sport, etc. Activists stand silently while holding posters of abused animals and on some occasions the bodies of dead animals. In 2022, the event took place in 43 countries, including Australia, Canada, the US, Chile, Mexico, Germany, Nigeria, Iran, Norway, and Israel.
Our Planet Theirs Too posted the new video and stated, “Thank you, beautiful and amazing souls from every corner of the globe, for joining forces on June 5. With your heart, passion, and creativity, we WILL change the world, and bring forth the day when all animals are free.” The homepage of the organisation states, “We are a non-profit organization with a bold vision for planet Earth and all of the species of beings who live on it: human and non-human animals sharing this planet in peace and harmony. We believe that this Earth belongs to ALL beings who live on it, and they deserve to share its resources equally. The human race, rather than dominating and harming all other species and the planet itself, should take full responsibility and protect them. Because it’s our planet, and theirs too!”
