On 19th June 2024, a record-breaking 1,008 vegan community meals were served in just 37 minutes at Estrada Courts, Los Angeles, US, setting the world record for the “Most Community Vegan Meals Served in an Hour”, according to the World Record Academy.

The meals were provided by Chef Supreme Divine and The Harvest Academy, along with key sponsors Beyond Meat, Gen V, and Vegans of LA. UnchainedTV’s media team was there to record the event, with Social Media director Michelle Celestino on Instagram LIVE, volunteer reporter Anthony Shale on TikTok LIVE and UnchainedTV founder Jane Velez-Mitchell streaming video. In addition to setting a record, the event provided meals to an extra 700 residents in the area.

The menu consisted of vegan meatloaf (courtesy of Beyond Meat), Spanish Rice, kale salad and a cookie. The volunteer cooking and distribution crew included: Cesar Asebedo, Paige Parsons Roache, Kim Delgado, Jocelyn Lopez, Chef Chris Tucker, Samantha Lao, artist C5, and GenV’s Jamie Logan and Naomi Hallum.

Chef Supreme Divine is an Army veteran who, over the past two years, has served over 30,000 meals. This event is part of a larger mission to provide healthy, vegan meals to all people in the community who need support to obtain food and may end up consuming subsidised unhealthy animal food.

UnchainedTV wrote about the event: “This accomplishment is more than just a record; it is a testament to Chef Dow’s belief in food as a basic human right. ‘We all have the right to be whole, happy, healthy and fed. That’s the biggest thing. Nobody should ever go hungry,’ he emphasised. For Chef Dow, making these meals plant-based was crucial, not just for human health, but for the well-being of the planet and the animals as well.”
