The Vegan Formula 1 champion Lewis Hamilton won the British Grand Prix at Silverstone after two years without a win. His last victory was in Saudi Arabia in 2021.

He won the prestigious British F1 race at Silverstone leaving Max Verstappen with Red Bull in second place and Lando Norris with McLaren in third. From his debut in 2007 to 2021, he had won a race in every season, but since 2022, he has been unable to give his Mercedes team another victory until now.

He said to the Guardian, “I can’t stop crying. Since 2021 I have been trying. It’s my last British win for this team. I wanted to win it for this team. I love them. The important thing is to dig deep. There have been days since 2021 that I didn’t think I was good enough. I love you guys, God bless you…But the important thing is how you continue to get up and dig deeper than ever even though you are at the bottom of the barrel and there are days since 2021 where I didn’t feel I was good enough or I would get back to where I am but I have had great people around me.”

He has been vegan since 2017, and he often uses social media to campaign for vegan and animal protection issues. He once posted, “Every bit of meat, chicken, or fish you eat, every bit of leather or fur you wear, has come from an animal that has been tortured, pulled away from their families and brutally killed.”

In November 2023, Lewis Hamilton opened another of his plant-based restaurants in Milan, Italy, together with Hollywood star Leonardo DiCaprio. Hamilton’s restaurant, which is part of the Neat Burger chain, opened in Milan inside the Merlata shopping centre. His vegan restaurant chain has branches in several locations in London (Oxford Circus and Canary Wharf), Nolina in New York, and the Dubai Mall.
