Commercial fishing uses large nets and fishing lines to remove fish from their habitats on a large scale. In addition to the targeted fish, many endangered and vulnerable animals are trapped and killed by the fishing equipment. These animals are collectively called “bycatch” and commonly include dolphins, sharks, sea turtles, and seabirds.
