On Sunday 14th August 2022, a truck transporting around 200 pigs to their slaughter crashed on the Acatepec Freeway outside Mexico City. Around 50 activists from several animal protection groups arrived at the scene with vehicles, and worked together to save some of the survivors, despite the disapproval of the authorities present.

A sanctuary called Seres Libres agreed to give shelter to 16 of the pigs, so they were taken there. So far, 15 are still alive at the sanctuary, recovering from their injuries and stress. ❤️🐷
