“After 20 years in captivity, Ina the bear is still mentally trapped in her cage.
Visibly scarred by the trauma of living most of her life locked up in a small cage in a Romanian zoo, she is still seen walking in circles despite having ample space at the @libearty_bear_sanctuary where she lives now.
A recent scientific study showed how life in captivity can cause severe brain damage in large mammals. Some of the consequences are repetitive habits such as constantly moving his head, rocking incessantly or chewing on the bars of her cage. Others wander in endless circles around her compound.
Zoos and aquariums are true prisons for animals. We have the key to open the cages in our hands: let us stop visiting these places and choose to support the organizations that offer refuge and freedom.
Go vegan, reject speciesism and stay active.”
