Are Fish Worth NO Moral Consideration? ๐ŸŸ๐Ÿ’”

Bycatch is a serious issue, but also an interesting one from an animal rights perspective 🤔

Bycatch refers to the unintentional capture of non-target species while fishing. It threatens biodiversity and harms marine life and ecosystems. 🐬

But what’s interesting about it is – that to the average person who is aware of it, it is deemed as a moral issue. Turtles, sharks, dolphins and whales being harmed and potentially losing their lives, is upsetting to people. 👀

But the fish that ARE being targeted, are worth no moral consideration or concern at all!? Why is this!? When they are individuals too – who wish not to die, and we do not need to consume them – making their deaths unnecessary? 🐟💔

Bycatch is a problem – of both moral and ecological concern – but so is fishing itself! Leave marine animals alone! 🙏
