Chicken Rescued from a Waste Pile ๐Ÿ”๐Ÿ’šโ  #shorts

“Spirit arrived here at the Sanctuary 2.5 months ago along with her seven friends.

These beautiful girls were rescued by a courageous animal warrior from the “cull pile” at a commercial breeding factory.

They were thrown on this pile because they were too small or not perfect enough to be viable as egg (money) making machines.

Two of the girls weren’t walking as well as the rest. But after about a month of the best feed and medical care, everyone was happily running around the Sanctuary… everyone except for little Spirit.

Spirit is a tiny hen. And although she could walk, she much preferred to sit and hide away.

So we contacted our dear friend and enormously experienced chicken whisperer, Julie, founder of the amazing hen rescue @whogivesacluck

Julie offered to take Spirit back to her place for a week or so to start her on an intensive vitamin and nutrition protocol, as well as physiotherapy to increase her muscle and bone strength.

It seems that Spirit may have been one of the weaker babies so didn’t get her share of the feed offered in the breeding cages.

Not getting enough protein rich feed in those critical weeks meant she didn’t get what she needed to grow big and strong.

Sprit is making excellent progress at Auntie Julie’s. And we’re so incredibly grateful for the help! 🙏😍
