Ending Animal Experimentation with Tara Jackson

Tara Jackson is the Executive of the New Zealand Anti-Vivisection Society (NZAVS). In her five years with the organisation she has made an incredible difference and unearthed some astounding information of what really goes on behind laboratory doors. Be prepared to be shocked as we learn the extent of animal testing around the world and the array of species exploited by humans for the sake of our ‘health’ and ‘wellbeing’.

“The part that really shocked me the most in this journey of learning more is actually the industry itself, in learning that researchers and scientists and representatives of the industry can admit that an animal test has no scientific value and yet they don’t want to ban it or they don’t want to end it’s use… There is this admission of the animal not working and yet there’s this huge hesitancy to do anything about it.”

“I think the biggest hurdle we face is that misconception that animal testing is a necessary evil. That I think is our biggest hurdle because that’s what people fiercely defend and that to me is the thing that really keeps the social license for animal experimentation in New Zealand. If we had the majority of the public openly knowing that animal testing is an ineffective way of helping people, then I think it wouldn’t be long before we see and end to this.” -Tara Jackson
