A ban on live export in Aotearoa/New Zealand will finally come into effect on the 23rd April, 2023 after passing the final hurdle in parliament. This is comes after the hard work and dedication of multiple animal rights organizations and grassroots activism groups including: SAFE, Taranaki Animal Save Hawke’s Bay Against Live Export, @endliveexportnz and many more!

While an impending ban is excellent news, more than 14,000 cows were live exported from New Zealand shores in the past week alone. Animal Save are still urging the public to take a moment to message Damien O’Connor MP and ask him to implement this ban immediately to avoid the suffering of any animals who could be exported between now and April next year.
