Fish farming, or aquaculture, negatively impacts the lives of fish in several critical ways. Intensive fish farming practices force large numbers of fish into overcrowded and confined spaces, leading to stress, disease outbreaks, and increased mortality rates. 🐟💔

Moreover, the practice of breeding fish involves methods such as hormone injections and physically manipulative techniques like “stripping” (literally squeezing and forcing germ cells out of the fish’s body) which is invasive and stressful. 😣

Fish farms also contribute to environmental degradation, including pollution from fish waste and the spread of diseases to wild fish populations, further compounding the negative impact on wild aquatic life. 🫤

John Oberg recommends “What a Fish Knows” by Jonathan Balcombe, which explains just how spectacular, underrated and misunderstood these animals are. 💔

We cannot justify doing this to them! Stop eating fish and go vegan! 💚
