DAIRY: The milk or cream in your #coffee and butter on your pancakes came from a mother cow whose babies were stolen from her within a few days of giving birth. If females, the the calf will be sentenced to the undeniably miserable life of a dairy cow. She will be forcibly impregnated over and over again, and will grieve her calves who are taken by farmers each time. After several years of this torture, she will be slaughtered. Male calves born into the dairy industry are killed, sold for #meat, or confined in tiny cages for around 16-18 months before they are slaughtered and their body parts are sold as veal.⁠

EGGS: Male chicks born on large egg farms are deemed useless since they cannot lay eggs and are not suitable to produce meat. They are thrown into a large macerator which grinds them up alive within a day of being born. Female chicks are sentenced to life in overcrowded, unsanitary facilities, where they are kept until they can no longer produce eggs. After many years of misery, they are violently slaughtered. ⁠

BACON: The natural lifespan of a pig is between 15-20 years. Pigs bred and raised for bacon are typically slaughtered between 4 months – 1 year of age, meaning that #bacon is a baby pig who didn’t want to die and whose life was cut tragically short. ⁠
